Traumatic bonding, also called Stockholm Syndrome, occurs in abusive relationships which are categorised by an imbalance of power, high intensity and an unpredictable atmosphere, rapidly shifting between periods of cruelty and tenderness. Traumatic bonds can form very quickly and last long after the relationship is severed.
